Different ways to answer
You will not only chat. The tutor will switch how you answer — matching words, tapping a choice, typing a word, putting a sentence in order, a short reading, listening (the language you’re learning only, then what did you hear), or a short street scene you walk through. After a few talk turns a switch is coming; Back to the lesson skips that one. Confusion or “I don’t understand” always comes first.
Words you don’t know
Tap a word in the language you’re learning — in the tutor’s message or on the street — for a short English meaning. No guess if we don’t have one. Asking “what does that mean?” still works too.
You're in charge
This isn't a quiz — it's a conversation you steer. At any moment, in English or in the language you’re learning, you can:
- Ask questions — "why this form and not that one?", "what does that word mean?"
- Say what you want — "I want to learn past tense", "slower please", "let's talk about food"
- Just keep talking — answering is always fine too, but you never have to only respond
Focused practice
Ask to learn something specific and the tutor may open a short focused-practice block — you'll see a banner at the top of the chat. Practice as long as it helps; Back to the lesson ends it and returns you to the regular lesson. You can also say stop practice or back to the lesson. If a level check is on, say skip.
Chapters
Learning happens in chapters. When one wraps up, the tutor reviews what you did, shows you a chapter report, and opens the next one.
The panels
Progress and Forms & phrases are buttons in the header — open them, then Done or tap outside to close. Forms pops open for a few seconds when a new word-form table arrives, then closes so the chat stays clear; tap Forms again any time it is available. When pictures or tap-choices show, tap one — a single picture puts the word in the box; two or more pictures, or a row of choices, send that answer. Tap-choices appear only when you are stuck; they leave once you reply or the next turn is open production.
Voice
Click the mic, talk, click it again — your words land in the box so you can edit them. Press Send when they look right. Replies stay silent unless you tap the speaker. Voice speed lives under More (0.8× and below uses a deliberately slow style).
Fresh starts
Finish for today (under More) grades what you just did and shows a short report — your record is saved; you can keep talking after. Start over clears this language only — that record, progress, and this conversation — and begins again as a brand-new learner in this language. Other languages you have started are left alone. Reloading the page keeps your conversation — refresh is never destructive. Feedback (under More) saves a short note about what broke or felt wrong.
